Not long ago I spent an amazing time in Ibiza, surrounded by salty air, the noise of breaking waves and a cool group of other influencers. Fun and relaxation is what you might assume now. Unfortunately not only.
As blogger you’re constantly under pressure to be present on the web anywhere, anytime. If not on the blog ifself, at least on social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat (find me under: fashionfraction). Whilst private people share their holiday snapshots on their Facebook wall for fun, for bloggers the sharing of their life decides about life and death (drama, baby!
). Because if blogging starts to get your business, clicks and visits decide about an accept or deny of a new project. There’s no space for a break or holidays. Well, at least none without the smartphone at the forefront.This fact is another point on a long list why I never sought making my blog my full time job but rather I try to stay independent. Experiencing all these beautiful moments only through the screen of my iPhone instead of enjoying it to the fullest? Seriously, no thanks. And all that only because one feels like one has to share that picturesque sunset via snapchat and the tasty looking dinner on Instagram – after 10 minutes of putting plates and stuff into the perfect picture composition (meanwhile the food is already cold).
I can’t do that. I don’t want to do that. What I want is to enjoy these moments and save it in my heart – how sappy – although I often reach for my phone in holidays in the urge to share this or that and get annoyed by a horrible internet connection. Honestly I do it subconsciously and always feel somehow bad whenever I catch myself doing so. Let’s make an end of it, but instead rather leave the phone in the room, and sh*** on that damn pressure we load onto ourselves but just live.
Vor nicht allzu langer Zeit verweilte ich noch in Ibiza, umgeben von salziger Meerluft, dem Geräusch brechender Wellen und einer coolen Gruppe an weiteren Influencern. Spass und Relaxing könne man sich jetzt denken. Leider nicht ganz.
Als Blogger steht man unter dem Druck, ständig online präsent zu sein. Wenn nicht auf dem Blog, dann zumindest auf Social Media Plattformen wie Facebook, Instagram und Snapchat (ihr findet mich unter: fashionfraction). Während Private ihre Ferienschnappschüsse zum Spass in ihrem Facebookprofil teilen, entscheidet bei professionellen Bloggern das ständige Teilen des Lebens über Leben und Tod (Drama, baby!). Denn, wenn das Bloggen zum Beruf wird, und damit Click- und Leserzahlen über die Zu- oder Absage von Aufträgen entscheiden, dann gibt es keine Auszeit, keine Ferien mehr. Zumindest keine ohne das Smartphone an vorderster Front mit dabei.
Genau dieser Fakt ist ein weiterer Punkt in einer langen Liste, warum ich nicht vom Bloggen abhängig sein möchte und es auch niemals vorgehabt habe. All die schönen Momente nur noch durch den Screen des iPhones mitzuerleben, statt sie zu geniessen, kann es doch einfach nicht sein. Und das nur, um den traumhaften Sonnenuntergang auf Snapchat zu zeigen und das Essen im Restaurant, nach zehnminütigem hin und her schieben bis zur perfekten Bildkomposition (mittlerweile ist es schon kalt), auf Instagram zu präsentieren.
Ich kann das nicht. Ich will das nicht. Ich will Momente geniessen und in meinem Herzen festhalten – so kitschig es auch klingt – und trotzdem greife ich auch in den Ferien oft genug zum Smartphone und nerve mich, wenn das Internet nicht funzt. Ich tue es unterbewusst und fühle mich irgendwie schlecht, wenn ich mich dabei erwische. Schluss damit – ganz bewusst habe ich mich entschieden, das Telefon auch einfach mal des Öfteren im Zimmer zu lassen, auf den Druck, den man sich selber aufsetzt einfach mal zu sch*** und stattdessen zu leben.
